C’Nano & partners

Whereas the five C’Nano structure basic research, competitivity centers which have been also created in 2005 are organized by companies which request the help of laboratories and research teams with the right competence for their industrial project. The Minalogic center has its core around the large companies has an international scope around nano-electronics, communication devices and imbeded software.

In Rhône-Alpes, an interface tool between C’Nano end the Minalogic centers : theNano-electronic Nanosciences et Nanotechnologies cluster. Its role is to identify among all the "nano" research themes, the ones likely to lead to technological breakthrough with strong economic impact. These three structures have each a clear mission and wirk together: the C’Nano and Micro-Nano cluster comittees share common members and several industrials representatives of the Minalogic center paticipate to the managment of the Micro-Nano cluster.

In practice
  • C’Nano does the scientific animation, and is the regional representative of the NanoSci-Era program, and facilitates the acces to fabrication and characterization facilities and help financing their activities by the national funding agencies and programs.
  • The Micro-Nano cluster focuses on projects which are forward looking and promisses technological breakthrough with a strong economic potential
The Minalogic center has industrial project for starting points and request the help of research units as required by their needs.

C’Nano missions

Organize regional research

  • Be the correspondent with european programs (NanoSci-Era) and a place of discussion and exchange for national ANR calls.
  • Set up and facilitate the access to fabrication and characterization plateforms for the Rhône-Alpes community and beyond.
  • Define priorities and coordinate the actions of the different regional entities.

Promote scientific communication and animation between

  • research laboratories and disciplianry communites. Topical workshops and regional conferences are organized regularly, the most visible one being the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology days in Rhoône-Alpes which attract more thant two hundred participant each years.
  • Scientists and students through trainings and conferences in high schools and universities.
  • Scientists and the general public through science exhibits and fairs, medias communications and public debates.
