Organization of research

In Rhône-Alpes, close to sixty research laboratories are engaged in the study and the nanofabrication of nano-objects and device components. There are grouped with Universities and Grandes Ecoles in federations for the site in close ties with research poles (Pole de Recherche et d’Enseignement Supérieur). A projet for an Advanced Reseach Technology Network "Nanosciences ouround nano-electronics" has for mission an animation around eight thematics projects. The Micro-Nano regional cluster is an interface between industrial research driven the the Minalogic competitivity pole and more forward-looking research.

C’Nano competence centers have been created in 2005. Their mission is to Structure regional research

  • be the regional correspondant with European programs (such as NanoSci-Era) and foster discussion for national program calls.
  • Set up and facilitate the access to shared facilities to the entire Rhône-Alpes research community.
  • Define priorities and coordonnate initiatives between the different regional structures.

Organize communication events around nanosciences between

  • Laboratories and the research community irrespective of their discipline. We organize thematic workshops and regional meetings, the most visible one being the Nanoscience and Nanotechnologie Rhône-Alpes days which attract more than two hundred participants.
  • Researchers and youth through training and conferences in high schools and universities.
  • The research community and the general public through science exhibits and fairs, medias and public conference and debates.
